On August 2, 1776, John Hancock, as President of the Continental Congress, was the first to sign the Declaration of Independence and clearly associate his name with the quest for freedom for all eternity. Like Hancock, all the Founding Fathers left behind a written legacy of their words and ideas that resonate with all Americans up through this day.
